Spent all of Sunday this weekend with Kolby of 100Hikes.com fame in search of more mushrooms and other fungal forms, as he wanted to visit the very trail Emily and I visited after a previous rainstorm a few weeks back. The weather was perfect for the expedition, as coastal clouds swept in and misted us throughout the day (well, occasionally more than a mist). We hiked about 5 miles, the whole time thru captured as many macro photos of the tiny lifeforms that sprung forth from the winter rains. Slimes, mushrooms, and lichen were in abundance in the Chiquito Basin in the Cleveland National Forest near Lake Elsinore. I highly recommend it.
